find the fun in January

As we step into a new year, will you find the fun with me?! There are so many things to celebrate – big and small – here are 30+ ways to Find The Fun with The Curious Year calendar this January.

January is Hot Tea Month. It’d be a great time to try out a new tea flavor (this shop has such fun ones 😍), take a friend their favorite tea, or if you’re feeling extra – have a little tea party with all your par-tea people 🫖 😉

  • January 1st – Commitment Day. Maybe commit to going for a walk every day (rain or shine), or attempt to read one book per month for the year 💪🏼 I’ll be sharing more about this later this week, but I’m committing to writing & sending 1 card (snail mail style) per week this year 💌🤓

  • January 5th – Whipped Cream Day. Make homemade whipped cream or buy ready-made whipped cream to have on your coffee, hot chocolate, etc… basically just enjoy whipped cream on anything & everything you eat/drink today! ☕️

  • January 10th – Sunday Supper Day. Host a Sunday supper! Have a cozy night in, light candles, invite some folks over to share in the sunday supper with you. Here are some supper suggestions  🍽

  • January 11th – Step in a puddle and splash your friends day. If you can’t find a puddle, you could “splash your friends” and play water gun squirt game  💦

  • January 13th – Make Your Dreams Come True Day. Make a list of your dreams & share them over dinner with your people while listening to this song  ✨

  • January 14th – Dress up your pet day. Or maybe your kiddo’s stuffed animal if you don’t have a pet? 🐶🐱

  • January 16th – National Nothing Day. “People say nothing is impossible, but I do nothing everyday” – Winnie the Pooh. Was there ever anyone wiser? Read up on how to do nothing, or schedule time to do absolutely nothing today  📆

  • January 17th – Kid Inventors Day. The responses to asking a kid in your life: “what would you invent if you could?” are sure to be endlessly entertaining 😆

  • January 18th – Winnie the Pooh Day (birthday of author A.A. Milne 1882). Read Winnie the Pooh, watch a Winnie the Pooh movie, or listen to this podcast episode where a Winnie-the-Poohologist deciphers how old Winne the Pooh Bear is 🧸🍯

  • January 21st – Soup Swap Day. We’re well into beloved Soup Season and what better way to celebrate than with a soup swap?! Here’s how to make a soup swap happen – you’ll end up with soup for days. Bring some baguettes and it’s a win, win. 🥖

  • January 24th – Belly Laugh Day. Maybe watch a comedy special or your favorite funny movie and get your laugh on 🤣

  • January 25th – Opposite Day. The best idea I found is to have dinner for breakfast 🍕 and breakfast for dinner 🍳 You can find more ideas for opposite day here!

  • January 26th – Clashing Clothes Day. My only idea here is to let your young kiddos dress themselves 💁🏼‍♀️

  • January 31st – Inspire your heart with art day. Visit an art museum or gallery, shop art made by local makers, make some art for someone! 🎨

I hope this list of ideas helps you find more fun in your days this January 🎉
